Brown Hawker.

Sitting in the garden this afternoon I was wondering about a photo for today when this arrived in a whir of wings and alighted on the fence.

The British Dragonfly Society has a very helpful section on the identification of dragonflies and damselflies on their website at http://www.british-dragonflies.org.uk and with their help I think that I’ve identified it as a Brown Hawker. Very welcome in our garden.
