I try to get to Scotland most years as the walking is wonderful even if the weather can be difficult. I often go to Skye which is always a treat but it is sometimes good to do some winter walking, hopefully with snow and ice in good condition.

This year I am meeting up with some of my old Sussex friends for a week based around Glencoe. To break the journey over two days I am staying tonight at our club’s cottage in Patterdale. I was here five weeks ago in terrible weather but today is lovely although there is still a lot of flooding.
