Scotland 4

Well, what a difference a day makes. After awful yesterday we woke to this today.

and yes, that is blue sky.

I went out for a walk today along Loch Etive. This requires a drive down Glen Etive first but it is a lovely drive with great scenery and wild life.

I parked at the bottom of the glen and this was the view down the loch.

The first part of the walk was dreadful, very wet and no path so very hard going. Once I found a track it was much better. During the walk I saw lots of birds, three eagles, quite a lot of deer and a bear. The scenery was lovely through broad leaved woodland where all the rocks were covered in thick moss. Like this.

When I finished my walk and was driving back up the glen I came across a group of deer on the road and stopped to look at them. These deer are fed during the winter and I was able to walk right up to them and even scratched one of them on the nose. Quite a thrill really.

When I got back to the cottage I was disturbed to learn that one of our group, Pete, had suffered from a locked knee up on the mountain today and had to be winched off by rescue helicopter. Honestly, the length some people will go to for a free ride in a chopper! Anyway following his rescue Pete’s fine but we will NEVER hear the end of it.

So a good day. Oh and I lied about the bear.
