365 Project – Day 337

Avonmouth.

Avonmouth is the coastal port for Bristol at the mouth of the River Avon. Nowadays as you go over the bridge on the M5 motorway you look down onto the car compounds with rows and rows of cars and vans as this is a major transit point. In earlier times much grain arrived in the UK through Avonmouth and the old mills are still visible. Much of the area is now given to industrial estates housing many and varied businesses; there is a power station and you can see the vapour from the cooling towers in the picture. It’s a bit of an industrial wasteland to be frank.
