Saturday Rugby.

Once again we had proper Saturday afternoon rugby at the Recreation Ground this afternoon and very good it was too.

Saturday afternoon is the traditional time for rugby matches but now that everything is the slave of the television rights holders we dance to their tune; so we now have Friday evening matches, matches in succession through Saturday afternoon and one or two games on Sunday afternoon as well. At Bath Rugby we have just suffered several Friday evening matches so this afternoon’s was very welcome. And we beat Exeter Chiefs 31:14 in a hard won West Country derby.

Today’s result put us top of the Aviva Premiership for all of about an hour and a half until Northampton Saints beat Harlequins to reclaim top place by one point, but we are comfortably placed in second and just need to keep on winning our matches.
