365 Project – Day 31

Today I drove to the Lake District for our Club’s annual general meeting and dinner. When I left home the weather was dry, by the time I reached the Midlands it had deteriorated and the motorway north was frightful with spray and lack of visibility. In places there was so much water on the road that I could feel the car losing grip. In the end we left the motorway at the South Lakes turn off for Windermere and just past Kendal stopped for a spot of lunch during which it snowed heavily. Setting off again we were surprised to find snow down to road level and as we approached the Kirkstone Pass we found that it was closed so had to go all the way back to the motorway and up to Kendal; bit of a bugger really!

Anyway when I had dropped my friend Dick off at his hotel I drove to our Club’s cottage in Patterdale where, along with good friends, a welcoming fire awaited.
