Wild Plums.
I’m not a dedicated forager as I can’t be bothered with little bits of salad leaves and I don’t know enough about fungi. Some things however I simply can’t resist and we both love wild plums or ‘cherry plums’ as we used to call them. It breaks my heart to see them rotting on the ground so we went and gave the trees a good shake, very much to our benefit.
We also got some early blackberries which will feature in tomorrow’s supper.
Following our mild wet winter everything seems to be two or three weeks earlier than usual. I’ve already seen some sloes turning colour and I feel sloe gin coming on.
